Adsorpsi Ion Logam Kromium Heksavalen Cr (VI) Dalam Larutan Menggunakan Zeolit Berlapis Oksida Mangan (MnO2)

Sumber utama pencemaran air dapat berasal dari limbah domestik, industri, pertanian maupun limbah radioaktif yang mengandung berbagai logam beracun dan non-biodegradable seperti Cr, Cu, Pb, Mn, Hg, Cd dll yang dapat terakumulasi dalam organisme hidup dan menyebabkan berbagai macam gangguan penyakit. Ion kromium heksavalen menjadi karsinogen golongan 1 yang diklasifikasikan dengan mekanisme kompleks multipel yang menjadi pemicu perkembangan kanker, Peningkatan tingkat stres oksidatif, kerusakan kromosom, dan pembentukan adduksi DNA. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menyisihkan logam berat seperti Cr adalah menggunakan metode adsorpsi melalui zeolit berlapis oksida mangan. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan kapasitas adsorpsi terbaik MOCZ pada penyerapan ion logam Cr6+ diperoleh pada pH 2 dengan waktu kontak 60 menit dengan nilai qe = 0,72756 mg/g mengikuti persamaan pseudo orde dua. Secara keseluruhan MOCZ cukup baik dalam mengadsorp ion logam Cr.
