This study examines the recontextualization of prophetic tradition through the Living Hadith methodological framework, emphasizing its relevance to contemporary hadith interpretation. The approach highlights the dynamic interaction between the text (nass) and its context (waqi‘), which is increasingly crucial for understanding how the Prophet’s teachings are practiced, lived, and interpreted in modern Muslim societies. Traditional hadith studies have primarily focused on textual authenticity, often overlooking the socio-cultural dimensions in which the hadith function. Living Hadith offers a novel perspective by shifting the focus from static textuality to everyday practices, behaviors, and cultural expressions inspired by the Prophet’s words and example. Through qualitative and hermeneutical analysis, this study explores how the approach serves as both a reflection and a response to contemporary challenges such as pluralism, social justice, and moral transformation. Recontextualization in this framework does not aim to alter the substance of the hadith but to revive its ethical and spiritual meanings within new social realities. Thus, the Living Hadith approach makes a significant contribution to bridging the gap between classical hadith studies and contemporary Muslim life. It enriches hadith interpretation by grounding it in lived experience, ensuring that the prophetic message remains timeless, dynamic, and relevant to the moral consciousness of modern society.
