Digital Village in the Perspective of Indonesian Contemporary Urban Culture
Main Article Content
Abstract
Nowadays, the development of urban areas in Indonesia has shown a very rapid trend. This is not only seen in the physical-spatial aspects of the city, but it is also reflected in the urban culture of its people. This study tries to explore the phenomenon of digital village from the perspective of Indonesian contemporary urban culture, where there has been a shift in the meaning of the term "kampung" (village) from a spatial conception to an aspatial dimension. The use of social media has also redefined the terminology of "kampung", into a digital space that is dominated by Generations Z and Alpha as digital natives. This study uses a qualitative approach to explore social phenomena related to digital villages and their implications for urban development. The results of this study show that through digital village initiatives, community participation in urban development processes becomes more practical and easily accessible to all groups in the society, yet the implication of this study is to understand how modern urban society works in the digital era.
