Journal History
- Al-Ahkam was established in April 1991, with ISSN Number 0854-4603 (print media) and 2502-3209 (online)
- The journal is published twice a year: April and October
- In Vol. 1 No. 1 (1991) Vol 26 No. 1 (2016) all articles were published in Indonesian, and in Vol. 26 No 2 (2016) - Vol. 29 No. 1 (2019) all articles were published in Indonesian, English, and Arabic. Since Vol. 29 No. 2 (2019) all articles is full in English and Arabic.
- From 1991-2020 focus and scope are in Islamic law and Islamic astronomy; and from 2021 up to now, the focus and scope are in the principles of Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic law dan Islamic customary law.
- Since 1991-2012 Al-Ahkam was published in hardcopy; 2012-now in online.
- In 2016, Al-Ahkam become a CrossRef member and have a unique DOI number
- In 1991-2011 each published consists of 5 articles.
- In 2012-now each published consists of 6 articles.
- In 2018 Al-Ahkam accredited SINTA 2 by the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency of Republic Indonesia, Decree No.: 30/E/KPT/2018, and reaccredited in 2021 SINTA 2 Decree No.: 164/E/KPT/2021
- In Vol. 22 No. 1 (2012) Al-Ahkam changes to the full-text layout design, related to changes in fonts and the placement of images and tables; and in Vol. 32 No. 2 (2022) changes cover and logo.
- Al-Ahkam is currently indexed in several journal indexers: CROSSREF, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Moraref, Sinta Ristek Dikti, One Search Indonesia, BASE, Harvard Library, etc.
- In 2012 Al-Ahkam collaborates with the Indonesian Consortium Sharia Scholar
- Al-Ahkam was awarded Publication Grant by the Funding Program for Research-Based Journal Accreditation in 2016 and 2018 from The Directorate of Islamic Higher Education, Directorate General of Islamic Education, Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs.
- Al-Ahkam has been accepted for indexing by Scopus on Monday, January 1, 2024 (see the Title Evaluation Tracking).
- Starting from the April 2024 edition, al-Ahkam charges a publishing fee from free to paid.
- Starting from the April 2024 edition, al-Ahkam made changes to the author guidelines and increased the number of articles published from 6 to 8 articles per issue.
