Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Jurnal Dimas: Pemikiran Agama untuk Pemberdayaan undergoes a rigorous peer review to safeguard the quality and validity of the research it publishes. The journal operates a double-blind system, so the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential. The review is carried out by experts in the relevant field, who assess each manuscript for its scholarly merit, originality, and fit with the journal's scope.

1. Initial screening: Upon receipt of a manuscript, the editorial board checks its fit with the journal's aims and scope and with the author guidelines. Manuscripts that meet these requirements proceed to the review stage, whereas those with a similarity index above 25% are rejected outright. The editorial office then checks the layout and citation style against the author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not comply are returned to the authors for correction and resubmission. Manuscripts that pass this check are forwarded to the reviewers.

2. Reviewer assignment: The editorial board selects three independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field, have experience with the research topic, and have completed at least two rounds of peer review. Reviewers are not told who the authors are, and authors are not told who the reviewers are. Authors' names and author contribution statements must be removed from the manuscript. The handling editor then sends invitations to the reviewers, who are expected to be affiliated with institutions different from those of the authors. Invitees will also consider each invitation in light of their expertise, any potential conflicts of interest, and other relevant factors. The journal aims to assign reviewers within two weeks.

3. Manuscript review: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript for its scientific quality, originality, validity, and relevance to the field. Reviewers are typically given two weeks to complete their evaluation. They provide constructive feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts and may recommend that a manuscript be accepted, rejected, or revised.

4. Decision-making: The editor-in-chief makes the final decision to accept, reject, or request revisions, taking into account the reviewers' feedback and the manuscript's compliance with the author guidelines. If the reviewers' assessments differ substantially, the academic editor may invite an additional reviewer before the final decision is made. The academic editor then communicates the decision (rejection, acceptance, or major or minor revision) to the authors through the online system, together with the reviewers' relevant comments. Because the journal follows a double-blind policy, all comments and suggestions are delivered anonymously. The average time from submission to first decision is two to three months, and from acceptance to publication is approximately three to six months.

5. Revision: Manuscripts accepted subject to revision must be amended in line with the reviewers' feedback and resubmitted for further review. The resubmission must include the revised manuscript with the changes highlighted. Authors are typically given two weeks for minor revisions and four weeks for major revisions. Manuscripts requiring major revisions undergo a second round of review by the same reviewers, who assess whether the revisions adequately address their comments. For minor revisions, further review is not always necessary.

6. Publication: Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, the authors are asked to submit the final version, which is then copyedited and formatted according to the journal's style.

Through this process, every manuscript submitted to Jurnal Dimas: Pemikiran Agama untuk Pemberdayaan is evaluated against the highest standards of scholarly integrity and ethics, ensuring that only research of the highest quality is published.
