Islamic Communication Journal is published twice a year, June and December, by the Department of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting, Faculty of Da’wa and Communication, UIN Walisongo Semarang. Since June 27, 2019, Islamic Communication Journal collaborated with professional institutions namely the Indonesian Da’wa Profession Association (Asosiasi Profesi Dakwah Indonesia/APDI) and in collaboration with the Association of Da’wa Science Journal Managers (Perkumpulan Pengelola Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah/PPJID). On 26/09, Islamic Communication Journal officially raised the accreditation quality from Sinta 4 to Sinta 3 powered by ARJUNA (Akreditasi Jurnal Nasional) Kemenristekdikti. This increase was also the beginning of the refreshment of the appearance and design of ICJ’s identity to support continuous quality improvement.
ICJ has undergone several changes related to several aspects, which can be seen in detail as follows:
- 2018, Islamic Communication Journal started using templates for the first time
- 2022, Islamic Communication Journal adds several displays on the front page and sidebar of its website.
- 2022, Islamic Communication Journal displays real time graphs for citations according to Google Scholar.
- 2022, Islamic Communication Journal displays the number of Scopus citedness.
Since Vol. 7 No. 1 (2022), Islamic Communication Journal began to involve reviewers from across countries.
In Vol. 7 Number 1 (2022) also Islamic Communication Journal began to change the article template from two columns to one column.
Then, for Vol. 7 No 2 (2022), Islamic Communication Journal again reworked the article template by removing the "literature review" section (then adding it to the introduction section) according to the assessor's notes at the time of accreditation in 2020.
Since 2023, Islamic Communication Journal is accepted for inclusion in DOAJ.
