Community-based local food security depends on communities' capacity to mobilize natural resources, renewable energy, local knowledge, and collective action. This study aimed to assess material resources and renewable energy opportunities through participatory rural appraisal to support sustainable food-system development in Cirinten Village, Indonesia. Village sketch mapping, transect analysis, stakeholder mapping, and participatory interpretation were used to identify assets, relationships, environmental conditions, and development priorities. The assessment identified agricultural land, water, biological resources, livestock, fisheries, and biomass residues as key assets for productive activities. An integration model linking natural resources, renewable energy, value-added processing, community empowerment, and food security was developed. The model emphasizes capacity development, institutional strengthening, participatory governance, local knowledge, and partnerships as enabling factors for improving food availability, economic access, utilization, and long-term stability. Overall, participatory rural appraisal provides a context-specific framework for strengthening resilient village food systems, while proposed energy and processing options require further field validation.
