Digital Preservation
Daluang: Journal of Library and Information Science is committed to preserving its published scholarly content and maintaining its long-term accessibility, integrity, and availability. The journal recognizes digital preservation as an essential part of scholarly communication and seeks to ensure that its publications remain accessible even in the event of technical failure, website migration, or discontinuation of journal operations.
1. Scope of Preservation
This policy covers all content published by Daluang, including research articles, review articles, best practice articles, article metadata, publication information, and associated supplementary materials where applicable.
The preservation process aims to protect the integrity of the scholarly record and support continued access to published content.
2. Digital Archiving and Preservation Systems
Daluang seeks to maintain digital preservation arrangements through reliable storage, appropriate backup procedures, and recognized long-term digital archiving services.
The journal will use or pursue participation in recognized preservation services, such as the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or other suitable services listed in the Keepers Registry, subject to technical eligibility and successful implementation.
The journal's active preservation arrangements will be identified on this page once their implementation has been verified. References to specific services do not constitute a claim of active participation unless the relevant preservation arrangements have been established.
3. Backup and Recovery
The journal's publisher is responsible for maintaining appropriate backup and recovery procedures for journal content and associated publication data. These procedures are intended to reduce the risk of data loss resulting from technical failure, accidental deletion, unauthorized changes, or other disruptive events.
Backup procedures should cover published article files, issue files, bibliographic metadata, and essential system data. Backup copies should be stored separately from the primary hosting environment where technically feasible.
Recovery procedures should be reviewed periodically to support the restoration of journal content and the continuity of publication services.
4. Content Integrity and Version Control
Daluang is committed to preserving the integrity and authenticity of its published scholarly record. Published articles should retain their original bibliographic information, publication details, and applicable licensing statements.
Corrections, retractions, and other post-publication updates will be documented in accordance with the journal's editorial and publication ethics policies. Where an article requires correction or retraction, the journal will maintain appropriate records and links to the relevant notices rather than silently altering the scholarly record.
5. Metadata and Persistent Identifiers
The journal aims to maintain accurate and consistent bibliographic metadata for its published content. Metadata should include article titles, author names, affiliations, abstracts, publication dates, volume and issue information, and persistent identifiers where available.
Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where assigned, should remain associated with the corresponding published articles. The journal will seek to maintain functioning links to the official publication records and update relevant metadata when necessary.
6. Website Migration and Continuity of Access
If Daluang changes its hosting provider, publishing platform, or website domain, reasonable measures will be taken to preserve published files, bibliographic metadata, article identifiers, and links to the scholarly record.
The journal will endeavor to minimize disruption to readers, authors, and indexing services during any migration. Previously published articles should remain accessible through the journal's official website or appropriate preservation arrangements.
7. Discontinuation of Publication
If Daluang ceases publication or its official website becomes permanently unavailable, the publisher will seek to maintain access to previously published content through available digital preservation services, repositories, or other appropriate archival arrangements.
Where an external preservation service is active, access to preserved content will be governed by that service's policies and procedures. The journal does not guarantee recovery through any particular external service unless the relevant preservation arrangement has been confirmed.
8. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed periodically by the journal's editorial management in consultation with the publisher. Revisions may be made to reflect changes in preservation technology, publishing practices, applicable licensing terms, and the journal's operational arrangements.
The journal will ensure that statements concerning digital preservation services accurately reflect the arrangements implemented for Daluang: Journal of Library and Information Science.
