Optimizing the Potential of Nila Fish as a Mulur Village’s Flagship Product through Assistance in Developing Presto Nila for the Women’s Group (PKK) of Mulur Village

The abundant freshwater resources of Mulur Reservoir provide Desa Mulur with considerable potential in Nila fish. However, the harvest has largely been marketed in raw form, offering limited added value for the community. This condition has been exacerbated by mass layoffs at PT Sritex, which directly affected the welfare of local households. This community service program aimed to empower women’s groups (PKK) in Desa Mulur by enhancing their skills in processing Nila fish into a signature local product, namely Presto Nila Mulur, as part of the village’s priority commodities (Prukades). The program was implemented through a series of activities, including socialization, technical training on presto cooking technology, assistance in product licensing and food safety standards, training in marketing and small business management, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. The results indicated significant improvement in the participants’ knowledge and skills, particularly in fish processing, marketing strategies, and financial management. Presto Nila Mulur was successfully introduced as a ready-to-consume product with strong potential to support the local economy while also serving as an attraction for visitors to Mulur Reservoir. In conclusion, this program made a tangible contribution to community empowerment and income generation for families affected by layoffs. Future recommendations include strengthening marketing networks through collaboration with modern retail stores, digital marketplaces, and village-based culinary tourism to expand market reach and ensure business sustainability.
