STUDY OF THE ETHNOSCIENCE LEARNING APPROACH ABOUT KERIS YOGYAKARTA FOR CHEMISTRY LEARNING IN HIGH SCHOOL

Native Indonesian culture is slowly becoming less popular with the younger generation, so we need a means to introduce it. This research aims to determine chemistry teachers' perceptions of ethnoscience-based learning approaches, and characteristics of keris Yogyakarta, and examine keris's potential for high school chemistry learning. This qualitative research has subjects as many as ten high school chemistry teachers teach in Yogyakarta. The data collection techniques were questionnaires, interviews, and high school chemistry curriculum analysis. The research instruments used consisted of survey sheets and interview guidelines. The research data was analyzed using qualitative data from Miles and Huberman. The research results show that chemistry teachers positively perceive the ethnoscience approach. The characteristics of keris Yogyakarta that distinguish it from other regions are found in warangka, pendok, deder, and mendhak. Keris can be used as a theme to introduce Yogyakarta culture in chemistry learning. Chemical material related to keris includes elemental chemistry and redox reactions.
