About the Journal
Theologia is an international peer-reviewed journal specializing in Comparative Theology and Scriptural Hermeneutics. Published by the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Humanities, UIN Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia, the journal is issued biannually and bears ISSN 0853-3857 (print) and E-ISSN 2540-847X (online). The journal is accredited at SINTA 2, and its website notes recognition under the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Number 10/C/C3/DT.05.00/2025. Theologia has also been a Crossref member since 2016, and all articles receive a DOI under the prefix 10.21580/teo.
The journal is dedicated to advancing original and internationally relevant scholarship on theological thought, scriptural interpretation, and interreligious intellectual exchange. Its primary concern is the comparative study of how religious traditions understand revelation, interpret sacred texts, formulate doctrine, and engage major theological questions across historical and contemporary contexts. In particular, Theologia welcomes contributions on comparative theology, Qur’anic and Biblical hermeneutics, scriptural reasoning, theology of religions, and interreligious theological discourse.
With this focused identity, Theologia seeks to distinguish itself from broadly defined religious studies journals by concentrating on the intellectual, doctrinal, and hermeneutical dimensions of theology across scriptural traditions. The journal encourages submissions that are analytically rigorous, conceptually strong, and clearly engaged with international scholarly debates. Articles are expected to make a substantive contribution to theology and scriptural interpretation rather than merely provide descriptive, local, or weakly contextualized discussions.
Theologia aims to become a recognized forum for scholarly excellence in comparative theology and the interpretation of sacred texts by bringing into dialogue diverse religious traditions, methodological approaches, and intellectual settings. Through this clear research mission, the journal aspires to strengthen its international scholarly profile and to contribute meaningfully to contemporary debates in theology and hermeneutics.
