Post-Publication Discussion

Post-Publication Discussion

Vision: Journal for Language and Foreign Language Learning sees post-publication discussion as an important way to protect the integrity and transparency of published research and to keep knowledge in the field growing. The journal welcomes constructive scholarly discussion of its published articles, including comments, critical evaluations, clarifications, and responses that move research and practice in language and foreign language learning forward.

1. Submitting Post-Publication Comments

Readers and researchers may send comments or scholarly responses on articles published in Vision. A comment should deal with substantive scholarly matters, such as the theoretical framework, research design and methodology, data collection and analysis, interpretation of findings, validity of conclusions, or the pedagogical and practical implications drawn for language teaching and learning.

Every comment must be based on evidence, relevant to the article in question, written in a professional and respectful tone, and supported by appropriate scholarly references where needed. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, unsupported allegations, and remarks unrelated to the scholarly content of the article will not be considered.

Comments may be sent through the journal's online system or to the editorial office, and must clearly name the article being discussed.

2. Editorial Assessment

The editor assesses every post-publication comment and response for its relevance, scholarly merit, factual accuracy, ethical compliance, and contribution to academic discussion.

Where needed, the editor may ask for revisions, consult independent experts, or seek clarification from the original authors. The journal may decline any submission that does not meet its editorial and ethical standards.

3. Right of Response

When a comment raises substantive questions or criticism about a published article, the journal may invite the original authors to respond. Authors are expected to answer the points raised objectively, give supporting evidence where appropriate, and explain any limitations or uncertainties in their original study.

The editor decides whether a comment and its response will be published. The journal's aim is to treat scholarly disagreements fairly and to give readers a balanced account of the discussion.

4. Corrections and Retractions

When a post-publication discussion points to possible errors, inaccuracies, or concerns about research integrity, the journal examines the matter under its publication ethics policies.

If a significant error is confirmed, the journal may publish a correction or another suitable editorial notice. If the concerns suggest that the validity or integrity of the article may be seriously compromised, the editor may investigate further, consult independent experts, and contact the authors or their institutions where appropriate.

Retraction may be considered when the evidence shows that the article meets the journal's criteria for retraction. All corrective actions are carried out openly, with the aim of keeping the scholarly record reliable.

5. Ethical Standards and Confidentiality

Everyone involved in post-publication discussion must act with academic integrity, objectivity, and fairness, and must respect confidentiality where it applies, including the privacy of research participants such as learners, teachers, and schools. Authors, commenters, reviewers, and editors must disclose any relevant conflict of interest and must not use the discussion for personal, professional, or other improper purposes.

Allegations of misconduct are handled with care and judged on credible evidence. Where applicable, the journal gives the parties involved a fair opportunity to respond before any editorial decision is made.

6. Publication and Accessibility

Accepted comments, author responses, and related editorial notices may be published on the journal's website or through other suitable channels of the journal. Each item must clearly identify the article under discussion and give readers enough context to follow the issues raised.

The journal aims to keep a transparent scholarly record and to make sure that substantive post-publication concerns, and how they were resolved, are communicated properly to readers.

Through this policy, Vision supports constructive scholarly dialogue, responds to legitimate concerns about published research, and helps maintain the reliability and credibility of the literature on language and foreign language learning.
