Types of Manuscript

Sawwa: Jurnal Studi Gender welcomes original research, review, and conceptual articles that advance scholarly understanding of gender and related issues. All submissions must fall within the journal’s focus and scope, demonstrate a clear academic contribution, and comply with its author guidelines and publication ethics policies.

1. Original Research Articles

Original research articles present previously unpublished findings from studies employing clearly explained and appropriate research methods. These may include qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research, as well as documentary, archival, and other forms of systematic inquiry. Manuscripts should identify a clear research problem, engage critically with relevant scholarship, explain the research methods, and present findings supported by rigorous analysis. Their contribution to gender studies should be explicitly articulated.

2. Review Articles

Review articles provide a critical synthesis of existing scholarship on a clearly defined topic within gender studies. These may take the form of systematic, scoping, integrative, or critical reviews, provided that the approach to selecting and analyzing the literature is clearly explained. Manuscripts should move beyond descriptive summaries to examine debates, assess the strengths and limitations of existing research, identify knowledge gaps, and propose directions for further inquiry.

3. Conceptual Articles

Conceptual articles develop, refine, or critically examine concepts, theories, and analytical frameworks relevant to gender studies. They should address a clearly formulated intellectual problem through coherent argumentation and substantive engagement with relevant literature. Their principal contribution lies in offering new conceptual insights, reconsidering established assumptions, or proposing alternative perspectives that advance scholarly debates. Manuscripts should clearly explain their analytical approach and demonstrate the significance of their arguments for gender scholarship.
