Authorship Criteria

Jawda: The Journal of Islamic Education Management recognizes authorship as a form of academic recognition accompanied by responsibility and accountability for the integrity of published scientific works. Author designation must be based on substantial scientific contributions to the manuscript, not solely because of academic position, institutional affiliation, seniority, funding, or general supervision.

1. Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author, each individual must meet the following four criteria:

a. Substantial scientific contribution: To make a meaningful contribution to the conception or design of research, data collection, data analysis, or interpretation of research results related to the management of Islamic education.

b. Manuscript drafting: Participate in the drafting of the manuscript or conduct a critical review of the important intellectual substance in the article.

c. Final approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted for publication.

d. Accountability: Willing to take responsibility for all aspects of research and ensure that any questions regarding the accuracy or integrity of any part of the scientific work are appropriately investigated, examined, and resolved.

Each individual listed as an author must meet all of these criteria. Contributors who meet the first criteria must be allowed to be involved in manuscript drafting, critical review, and final approval to meet all authorship requirements.

2. Author's Contribution

All authors are expected to make meaningful intellectual contributions to research and manuscript preparation. Each author must explain their contribution transparently and ensure that the statement of contribution is in accordance with the work actually being done.

Jawda encourages the reporting of each author's contribution openly and accurately. If appropriate, authors can use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to explain their respective roles, such as conceptualization, methodology, data management, formal analysis, investigation, initial drafting, writing and editing, supervision, and research administration.

3. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

Corresponding authors are responsible for coordinating communication between journals and all co-authors throughout the submission, peer review, revision, and publication processes. Corresponding authors must:

a. Ensure that all listed authors meet the criteria for Jawda authorship.

b. Confirm that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to submit it to Jawda.

c. Provide accurate information about the author's name, institutional affiliation, and contribution statement.

d. Ensure that all required statements, including conflicts of interest, research ethics, funding, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI), are disclosed in accordance with applicable regulations.

e. Communicate editorial decisions and substantial changes to the manuscript to all co-authors.

f. Ensure that all co-authors agree on the final version of the manuscript before publication.

4. Authorship Order and Authorship Changes

The order of authors must be mutually agreed upon by all authors based on their respective scientific contributions. Jawda does not establish a single order of authorship that applies universally to all articles.

Any addition, deletion, or change in the order of the authors after the submission of the manuscript must be accompanied by a clear reason and the written consent of all affected authors, including individuals who are added or removed. Requests for changes must be submitted to the editor and subject to the editor's approval.

Changes to authorship should not be used to disguise actual contributions or circumvent the provisions of the journal's authorship criteria.

5. Contributors Who Do Not Meet the Authorship Criteria

Individuals whose contributions do not meet all of the authorship criteria may not be listed as authors. Their contributions may be stated in the Acknowledgments section with the consent of the individual concerned. Examples of contributions that do not automatically qualify for authorship include funding alone, general supervision, administrative assistance, technical support, language editing, proofreading, and other contributions that do not involve substantial scientific involvement. Honorary authorship, guest authorship, and ghost authorship are not allowed. Any individual who meets all the authorship criteria must receive proper recognition, while individuals who do not meet these criteria should not be listed as an author.

6. Ethical Compliance and Dispute Resolution

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of scientific papers submitted and published. Any issues related to authorship, undisclosed contributions, or improper naming must be resolved transparently among the authors.

If the authorship dispute cannot be resolved by mutual agreement, Jawda may refer the matter to the relevant research institution or organization for examination. The editor has the right to suspend the editorial process during the dispute and take action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI devices, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility and accountability for scientific works. Human authors remain solely responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and proper attribution of sources throughout the content of the manuscript.

Any use of AI devices in the preparation of manuscripts must be disclosed in accordance with the applicable AI use policy at Jawda. The use of AI does not replace the substantial intellectual contribution or responsibilities required to be an author. The author is responsible for checking all AI outputs to avoid misinformation, invalid references, copyright violations, confidentiality violations, and other forms of academic ethical violations. The use of AI to assist with language editing or other technical tasks does not automatically make the device author.

By submitting a manuscript to Jawda, all authors declare that the authorship information provided is correct, all listed authors have met the authorship criteria, and the manuscript has complied with the provisions of research ethics and journal publication policies.
