1. Policy Statement

The Journal of Integrated Elementary Education (JIEEd) is committed to maintaining transparency, financial accountability, editorial independence, and ethical communication in all aspects of scholarly publishing.

This policy explains the journal's sources of operational support, author and reader fees, advertising practices, and direct marketing activities.

JIEEd operates as a no-fee, open-access scholarly journal supported in part by public institutional funding. The journal does not accept commercial advertising and conducts promotional activities in a professional, responsible, and transparent manner.

The policy is informed by the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Financial arrangements, institutional support, and promotional activities must not compromise the scientific integrity or independence of editorial decisions.

2. Revenue Sources and Institutional Support

JIEEd is published by the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia.

Part of the journal's operational activities is supported by government funding allocated to Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo Semarang under the Daftar Isian Pelaksanaan Anggaran (DIPA) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

This institutional funding supports the journal's scholarly publishing activities in accordance with applicable university administrative and financial arrangements.

The journal's operational activities may include:

  • Editorial administration and manuscript management.

  • Maintenance of the journal's online publishing platform.

  • Editorial communication and publication preparation.

  • Management of scholarly publication records.

  • Journal quality assurance and publication development.

The existence of institutional funding does not imply that the funding authority determines manuscript acceptance, reviewer recommendations, or scholarly conclusions.

JIEEd is committed to disclosing material changes to its publishing model or sources of financial support when relevant.

3. Publishing Model and Author Fees

JIEEd adopts a fully open-access, no-fee publishing model.

The journal does not charge authors for submitting, reviewing, processing, or publishing manuscripts through its standard editorial workflow.

4. Financial Transparency and Editorial Independence

JIEEd maintains a clear separation between operational funding and editorial decision-making.

All manuscripts must be evaluated according to established scientific and ethical criteria, including:

  • Relevance to the journal's Aims and Scope.

  • Scientific originality and scholarly contribution.

  • Appropriateness and rigor of research methodology.

  • Reliability and interpretation of evidence.

  • Compliance with research and publication ethics.

  • Independent peer-review assessments.

Funding sources, institutional relationships, and other financial considerations must not influence reviewer selection, reviewer recommendations, manuscript acceptance, or rejection.

The publisher and supporting institutions must respect the editorial independence of the Editor-in-Chief and authorized editors.

Manuscripts submitted by individuals affiliated with the publisher or supporting institutions are subject to the same scientific and ethical requirements as other submissions.

Relevant competing interests must be disclosed and appropriately managed.

5. Advertising Policy

JIEEd does not accept commercial advertising from any individual, company, institution, or other external party.

The journal does not provide paid advertising space within its editorially controlled publication channels.

Accordingly:

  1. Commercial advertisements are not accepted for placement on the journal's website or in published articles.

  2. Paid promotional content is not incorporated into scholarly articles.

  3. Advertisers cannot purchase preferential editorial treatment or publication opportunities.

  4. Manuscript acceptance is not influenced by commercial advertising interests.

  5. Advertising is not selected on the basis of article content, reader behavior, or random placement because the journal does not operate an advertising program.

JIEEd distinguishes ordinary scholarly information from commercial advertising.

Announcements regarding journal activities, scholarly events, publication schedules, or academic collaborations may be made for legitimate informational purposes.

Such announcements must not misrepresent commercial promotion as independent scholarly or editorial content.

6. Sponsorship and Other Financial Relationships

JIEEd recognizes the importance of transparency when scholarly publishers receive financial or organizational support.

Institutional cooperation, academic partnerships, and other forms of support must not undermine the journal's editorial independence.

Any future sponsorship, grant, donation, or other material financial arrangement affecting journal operations should be evaluated according to the following principles:

  • The source and nature of support must be transparently disclosed.

  • Support must not be conditional upon favorable editorial decisions.

  • Sponsors or supporting organizations must not control peer-review outcomes.

  • Financial relationships must not determine which research findings are published.

  • Relevant conflicts of interest must be identified and managed.

  • The journal's published revenue policy must be updated when material financial arrangements change.

These provisions establish safeguards for possible future arrangements; they do not indicate that JIEEd currently operates a commercial sponsorship program.

Academic collaboration does not automatically constitute commercial sponsorship or advertising.

7. Direct Marketing and Journal Promotion

JIEEd may promote its scholarly activities, published research, calls for papers, and other legitimate academic information through appropriate communication channels.

All direct marketing and promotional activities must be truthful, professional, relevant, well-targeted, and unobtrusive.

7.1 Permitted Promotional Activities

Appropriate activities may include:

  • Publishing calls for papers on the official journal website.

  • Sharing announcements through official institutional communication channels.

  • Communicating publication updates to interested academic audiences.

  • Promoting published articles through professional or scholarly networks.

  • The journal invites qualified researchers to contribute manuscripts within the journal's scope.

  • Providing accurate information about editorial policies, indexing, and submission procedures.

  • Informing relevant academic communities about journal activities.

Promotional activities should support scholarly communication rather than create inappropriate pressure to submit manuscripts.

7.2 Prohibited Marketing Practices

JIEEd does not permit promotional activities involving:

  • Unsolicited mass messaging or persistent spam.

  • Misleading claims about indexing or accreditation.

  • False promises of manuscript acceptance.

  • Guaranteed publication within an unrealistically short period.

  • Misrepresentation of peer-review procedures.

  • False claims of institutional endorsement or international recognition.

  • Impersonation of editors, reviewers, or publishing organizations.

  • Undisclosed publication charges or misleading financial offers.

  • Inappropriate use of personal information for promotional purposes.

The journal must not claim inclusion in scholarly databases or citation indexes unless the claim is accurate and supported by verifiable information.

Promotional statements must distinguish between journal accreditation, indexing, discoverability, and other forms of scholarly recognition.

8. Manuscript Invitations and Calls for Papers

JIEEd may issue calls for papers or invite manuscript submissions from researchers whose work is relevant to integrated elementary education.

Such invitations must accurately describe the journal's:

  • Aims and Scope.

  • Accepted manuscript categories.

  • Peer-review procedures.

  • Author requirements.

  • Open-access and licensing arrangements.

  • Publication fees.

  • Submission process.

A manuscript invitation does not constitute a guarantee of acceptance or publication.

All invited manuscripts must undergo the same editorial screening and, where applicable, independent peer-review procedures as other submissions.

An author must not receive preferential editorial treatment solely because a manuscript was invited or because the author has an institutional relationship with the journal.

9. Website Communication and Publication Transparency

Information published on JIEEd's official website must be accurate, clear, and consistent with the journal's established policies.

9.1 Accurate Journal Information

The journal should maintain reliable information concerning:

  • Publisher and editorial governance.

  • Editorial Team and Peer Reviewers.

  • Aims and Scope.

  • Author Guidelines and Article Template.

  • Peer Review Policy.

  • Publication Ethics.

  • Author Fees.

  • Open Access and Copyright Licensing.

  • Abstracting and Indexing.

  • Publication Schedule.

  • Official editorial contact information.

9.2 Claims About Journal Recognition

Statements concerning accreditation, indexing, citations, journal metrics, and international recognition must be verifiable and presented without exaggeration.

JIEEd must not imply that it is indexed by a particular database merely because its articles appear in search results or because the journal has applied for inclusion.

9.3 Promotional Independence

Information about published articles must be presented accurately and must not distort scientific findings for promotional purposes.

The journal should not use exaggerated claims about research impact, publication quality, or editorial performance to attract submissions.

10. Privacy and Responsible Communication

JIEEd respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and other individuals involved in scholarly publishing.

Personal information obtained through manuscript submission, reviewer registration, or editorial correspondence must not be used for unrelated promotional purposes without an appropriate legal basis.

Promotional communications should comply with applicable privacy requirements and the journal's Privacy Statement.

Where promotional messages are optional, the journal should provide appropriate mechanisms for recipients to manage their communication preferences.

Confidential manuscripts, reviewer identities, unpublished research information, and editorial correspondence must not be disclosed or used for marketing.

Routine communications necessary for manuscript submission, peer review, editorial decisions, and publication are part of the scholarly publishing workflow and should be distinguished from promotional messaging.

11. Complaints and Policy Violations

JIEEd welcomes legitimate concerns regarding misleading promotional information, unauthorized advertising, undisclosed financial arrangements, or inappropriate marketing practices.

Such concerns may be submitted through the journal's official editorial contact.

Reports should identify the relevant communication or activity and provide available supporting evidence.

The journal will evaluate credible concerns fairly and may take appropriate actions, including:

  • Correcting inaccurate information.

  • Withdrawing misleading promotional material.

  • Reviewing an inappropriate communication practice.

  • Clarifying funding or financial relationships.

  • Addressing relevant conflicts of interest.

  • Referring serious concerns to the appropriate institutional authority.

Complaints involving editorial integrity, research misconduct, or procedural fairness are handled under the journal's relevant ethical policies.

12. Policy Implementation and Review

The Editor-in-Chief and publisher are responsible for ensuring that the journal's financial disclosures, advertising practices, and promotional activities remain consistent with this policy.

The editorial office should maintain accurate information about author fees, journal promotion, and material sources of operational support.

JIEEd periodically reviews this policy in response to changes in institutional funding arrangements, publishing practices, scholarly communication standards, and applicable regulations.

Any substantive changes to the journal's business model, advertising practices, or author fees will be disclosed through the official journal website.

Financial and promotional arrangements must continue to respect editorial independence, publication ethics, and the journal's commitment to open access.
